About four years ago I started to wear MAC. I went to the stand and told the MUA that I wanted a foundation, concealer and a powder, but I didn't know what color to get. She ended up matching me to NW 45, I didn't know anything I figure she was the expert so I trusted her opinion. I didn't know the different NW and NC. I assumed NW was warm and NC was cool.
Then I seen a couple of youtube videos with lovely ladies who were using NC 50 their skin tone looked very similar to mines and I began to toy with the idea that maybe I was an NC 50. Also around that time i found out MAC coloring was some what backwards NW are the red/pink undertones and NC are the golden/yellow undertones. It was all making sense to me now. I went to a different MAC stand and got matched again. The MUA said to me 'What color do you normally wear' when I told her an NW 45 she sort of made a face and replied 'You sure you look like an NC 50' I told her I wasn't so she applied both to my face and the difference was subtle, but there. That was about a year ago and I been rocking NC 50 every since. However there still is some red tones in my face (the rest of my body is very yellow) so to balance it out I use Studio fix powder in NW 43.
Even a few months ago when the new pro longwear came out has to 'convince' the MUA to sample NC 50 on me. After trying her suggestion, NW 45 and my NC 50 she had to admit 'Yea the NC 50 is much better on you'
as you can see the difference of Nw 45 and Nc 50 are very slight but as the day goes on Nw 45 does mix with the oils and get redder. What happens when you mix red and yellow?? You get orange.
me with no makeup as you can see the center is yellow and the outer is more red, my neck and chest are yellow. therefore to get a more uniformed look I go with a yellow based foundation now.

My skin tone matches mac nc50 when it comes to their liquid foundation but for some reason the nc50 shade in their powder foundations is the same as their liquid foundation ( a Mac employee told me this). I would like a powder foundation and have no clue what shade would fit me. The Mac employee gave me nw43 but after less than an hour of wearing it, it was way too dark for me. I plan on going. Look for ashen or gray tones. If your skin appears more ashen or gray, then you could have a natural olive tone. This isn’t as common as warm, cool, or neutral, but is instead a combination of. What is a good highlighter for Mac NC44-NC50 skin tone?? I've tried Beccas opal, the balms Mary loumanizer, and Mac's global glow. I'm looking for something that adds a natural glow or sheen. I've found the Mac global flow is not as finely milled and looks a little glittery or patchy. Could be the brush I use. MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix fluid NC50: rated 4 out of 5 on MakeupAlley. I was somewhat pleased at first but sometimes I would notice that my skin would look really orange or my face would look way more red the my neck and chest. So I decide to try another brand, so I tried MUFE and a few other brands, because I thought i was NW 45, I would use that as a base to pick out colors which were also very red. Unsatisfied I returned to MAC Studi Fix Fluid the only problem I had with the foundation was the color.Cognac in MUFE is color iQ 1R13, I couldn't find Clinique #27 in the color iQ system but if it was ginger in the matte line then that's 1R11and MAC NC50 is color iQ 3R12. The best shades if we are going off of color iQ are FB shade 380 which is 3R11, FB 400 which is 1R12, FB 410 which is 2R12, FB 430 which is 2R13, or FB 440 which is 3R13.

Last January, I did this blog post “I’m a Woman of Color, I Can’t Find my Right Tone.” This post spoke about women of color (Hispanic, African American, Indian, and Asian) who have mostly yellow undertones or hues; however, some of these women do have reddish undertones. I know it can be confusing, and a pain in the butt trying to find the right color for your skintone, and the product that works well for you, especially since you’re probably spending a lot of money on these products. In this post, I’m going to list a few of the ways to make it easier for you to choose the right colors for your skintone.
Let’s start with what the N, C and W means that you usually see on most MAC foundations.
If you’re lucky, some cosmetics companies started to create comparison charts to make it easier for you to match.
N = Neutral – best for Beige skin
C = Cool – best for Yellow-Golden or “olive” skin
W = Warm – best for Pinkish skin
NC = Neutral Cool – Golden beige skin
NW = Neutral Warm – Pink Beige skin

What do the numbers mean?
The numbers usually mean the depth of the color. For instance, the lowest number is for people who have paler skintones, while the highest number is for people with darker skintones.

It seems cheaper to use drugstore brands, but at the end of the day it isn’t when you’re constantly spending money on the wrong shades! It’s always best to go to a makeup counter or store & have a professional help you. I know you’re probably thinking, “Well, sometimes even they don’t pick the right shade for me.” That’s why it’s good to be an educated consumer. It won’t hurt you to speak up for yourself, and state what you do know about foundations, and what you know doesn’t already work for you.
Lady zombie ruby skin price. Make sure you test three (3) different shades within the same color range for your complexion, from lightest to darkest, and test them out next to each other on your jawline to find the best possible match.
No one has perfectly even skin. Ms excel development. You may find yourself using more than one color. Most people are lighter in the center of their face & darker on the outer parts.
